May Village 2025 Minutes

May 14, 2025 

Present: Birchmeier, Olk, Gauthier, Ustishen, Wolford, Maksimchuk, Absent: Besaw, Maksimchuk 

Meeting called to order by President, Andy Wolford at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion by Birchmeier, support by Olk to accept the minutes, motion carried. Motion by Birchmeier, support by Olk to accept the Treasurer’s report, motion carried. Public Comments, Kayla McCormic was present to ask if DDA can update the welcome signs coming into New Lothrop. Motion by Olk, support by Birchmeier to allow DDA to replace the Welcome signs, motion carried. 

Caroline Wilson, Shiawassee County Clerk was present to update council and county directories are now on line. 

Police report, still researching feral cat ordinance, sale from the Ford Explorer will go towards computers. 

DPW, Zoning, and DDA reports are on file. 

Motion by Birchmeier, support by Olk to allow DPW to purchase chemicals up to $1,700.00 pending approval from EGLE, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried. 

Roger Hollenback was present to discuss property purchase at 8030 Saginaw Street, Village would like to keep a right of way access at lest 20′ wide to access the storm sewer. Village Attorney will look everything over and let Roger know by next meeting. 

Motion by Gauthier, support by Olk to accept the bid for Ford Bronco Police Vehicle of $3,200.00 submitted by Kylar Vanderwall, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried. 

Motion by Wolford, support by Maksimchuk to pay Stan 

Birchmeier for emergency repairs at the water treatment plant for the total of $40 per hour, 25 hours, for a total of $1,000.00, roll call vote 1 abstain, Birchmeier, rest yeas, motion carried. 

Motion by Wolford, support by Olk to require the DDA to install a fence with a locked gate after hours posted and DDA will be responsible for maintaining the proposed Basketball court, discussion an 8′ fence is required, operating hours posted, needs a lock and someone to unlock the gate, DDA will also be responsible to have insurance on property, motion carried. 

Street Commissioner discussed Main Street project. Safe Routes to school grant work will begin in Spring of 2026 

Motion by Maksimchuk, support by Olk to pay all the bills, all yeas, motion carried. 

Declared meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
