July Village 2025 Minutes

July 9, 2025

Present:  Maksimchuk’s, Tate, Birchmeier, Olk, Gauthier, Ustishen

Absent: Wolford, Besaw

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance by President protem, John Maksimchuk.  Motion by Olk, support by Ustishen to accept the minutes, motion carried.   Motion by Olk, support by Ustishen to accept the Treasurer’ report, motion carried.

Public Comments:  Val Huey asked Village Council about recycling bin, Ms Huey was told Hazelton Township has the Trash contract and she needs to contact them.  

Charlie Yaklin was present to discuss confusion in regards to New Lothrop Road and Saginaw Street, Clerk will contact the County office. Asked about trimming of trees over sidewalks in the Village, DPW will trim the trees.

Police, DPW, Zoning and DDA reports on file.

School contract discussed, school would like added daily walk through the school buildings and to notify the school when they will not have someone on patrol.  Discussed hiring part time officer, still searching.

Ghost Street Platted within the Village discussed, Motion by Birchmeier, support by Ustishen to adopt the resolution 2025-0709 regarding street abandonment.

Motion by Maksimchuk, support to adopt the intergovernmental agreement with the school including the addition of requiring officers to do daily walk through and to notify the school when an officer is not able to be on duty, discussion, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.

Motion by Birchmeier, support by Maksimchuk to add DPW employee, Andy Hobson’s child to his health insurance policy at a cost of $381.55, which will be split between the 3 departments, discussion, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.

Motion by Olk, support by Ustishen to pay all the bills, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.
