February 2026 DDA Minutes

NEW LOTHROP DDA MEETING MINUTES

                                FEBRUARY 18, 2026

Present: Pete Stewart, Mark Birchmeier, Tammy Schiefer, Taylor Copes, Skip McCormic, Cindy Kinsey, Jody Greenwood, Mike Milks, John Ryan-Attorney            Absent: Andrew Wolford

Meeting called to order: 6:35 PM

Pledge of Allegiance

Cindy made a motion to approve the January Meeting Minutes. Second by Mike. All Ayes, motion carried.

Pete made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report for January. Second by Cindy All Ayes, motion carried. 

Special Guests: Dave Pappenheimer-Announced that the New Lothrop VFW Post 6579 is sponsoring the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall will be coming to Chesaning, MI September 3-7, 2026. It is a large undertaking to bring the moving wall to Chesaning. It is estimated to require 200 volunteers and $45,000 of sponsorship. Dave was asking if the DDA could help and support getting the information out to the businesses in the area. The DDA plans to put in an ad in the Tri-County newspaper about the moving wall in August.  

Old Business: Brought up Concerts in the Park again. John Ryan will check on details  needed as he did help Durand get set up. 

New Business: Taylor mentioned that he plans to have a 5k run benefit in April and talked about possibly having a Career Fair for the businesses in the area. Skip asked if we could change the time of the DDA meeting to 6:45 pm. Cindy made a motion to change the time of the DDA meeting from 6:30 pm to 6:45 pm, effective 3/18/2026. Second by Tammy. All Ayes, motion carried. Tammy will post notification signs of the meeting time change. Need to get the flower baskets ordered for Main Street. Pete made a motion to pay up to $4,500 for the flower baskets through Main Street. Second Mark. Row call vote, unanimous. Motion carried.

Pete made a motion to pay the invoices. Second by Mike. Row call vote, unanimous, motion carried.
