March Village 2025 Minutes
March 12,2025
Present: Maksimchuk’s, Tate, Olk, Gauthier, Birchmeier, Besaw,
Absent: Wolford, Ustishen
Meeting called to order at 7:00 by Trustee John Maksimchuk with the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion by Olk, support by Besaw to accept the minutes, motion carried. Motion by Besaw, support by Gauthier to accept the Treasurer’s report, motion carried.
Public Comments: Chris Eveleth from Owosso was present to introduce himself as Head of a Newly renamed Shiawassee Health & Wellness for the County, they offer help and apply for grants for substance abuse, and mental health illness. Chris has applied for a county wide grant for a Mobile Crisis Unit.
Police, DPW, Zoning and DDA Reports on file.
New Dodge Durango Police Vehicle is in operation. This vehicle was purchased through a grant that our Police Chief Applied for through the State police. Discussed school contract possible increase, still in negotiations.
DPW report, two bids have been received for resurfacing of Main Street two blocks and parking lot with the parking lot also to be crack sealed. Will Discuss more in detail with Street Commissioner. Discussed progress of checking properties for lead/galvanized water lines.
Motion by Besaw, Support by Olk to allow an accessory building Less than 3’ from the property line on Dunklee property, Building is 6” from property line, discussion, 1 abstain Birchmeier, motion carried. Motion by Besaw, support by Olk to allow Dunklee property to use more than the required 40% of rear yard usage to 47.5% usage, discussion, 1 abstain, Birchmeier, motion carried. Motion by Besaw, support by Olk to reduce the price per panel and the number of panels to charge Mr. Dunklee for 9 panels at $40 per panel at a total cost of $360.00, discussion, roll call vote, all yeas, 1 abstain, Birchmeier, motion carried. Council would like to get a recommendation to lower the cost of solar panels for the Village. Recommendation will be on next agenda.
Clerk will look into quotes on new meeting chairs.
Motion by Maksimchuk, support by Besaw to appoint Charles McCormic to the DDA replacing Dave Schnell, motion carried.
Motion by Olk, support by Besaw to take the monies from sale of Ford Explorer and put into Police revenues, other income, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.
Motion by Maksimchuk, support by Besaw to replace the culvert on Saginaw street as a cost estimate of $10,500.00 with Gross Construction doing the work, providing funding help from DDA, discussion, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.
Motion by Maksimchuk, support by Besaw to resurface Main Street 2 blocks and the village parking lot which will also be crack sealed at a cost not to exceed $18,000.00, discussion, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.
Motion by Olk, support by Besaw to pay all the bills, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.
