Village December 2022 Minutes

Maksimchuk, Tate, Birchmeier, Seamon, McCormic, Olk, Gauthier  absent: Ustishen

Meeting called to order by Mayor Skip McCormic at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00 p.m.  Motion by Olk, support by Birchmeier to accept minutes, motion carried.  Motion by Olk, support by Seamon to accept the Treasurer’s report, motion carried.

Council vacancy letters of interest were reviewed by council.  Motion by McCormic, support by Birchmeier to appoint Justin Mills to vacant trustee position, roll call vote, Gauthier no, Birchmeier yes, Olk no, Seamon yes, Skip yes, motion carried. Mills was sworn in by Village Clerk.

Public Comments:   Courtney Kimball-Corbin was present to discuss her dissatisfaction with the handling of her sewer problem and reimbursement.

Chuck Yaklin was present to discuss Oak tree across from him is dropping branches and a danger to the public.  DPW has already checked on it, tree is dying.  DPW would be able to cut the tree down.  Cost estimate of $500.00. 

Steve Rukowski from Spicer engineering was present to discuss Safer Routes to School Grant.  Homeowners where proposed sidewalk on Northwood has not been notified of possible project.  Discussed possible routes.

Police, DPW and Zoning Reports on file.

Ditch Easement West end of Village has expired and we need to discuss with homeowners if they will grant another easement.  Ditch could eventually flood certain areas of the Village. 

Discussed problem with Lagoon outfill pipe, Could cost $9,000 to replace pipe and another $5,000 for installation.  DPW could replace the first 200’ and when depth becomes a problem, hire an excavator to finish the job.  Duckweed is also a problem for lagoon. Plumbing issue in Police Department.  

Motion by Seamon, support by Birchmeier to renew the web renewal with Taylor Copes, roll call vote all yeas, motion carried.

Motion by McCormic support by Birchmeier, to appoint Zach Besaw to fill the vacancy on DDA left by Holly Bishop, all yeas, motion carried.

Motion by McCormic support by Seamon to appoint Justin Mills as Sewer Commissioner, all yeas, motion carried.

Motion by Seamon, support by Gauthier to spend up to $10,000 for Safe routes to school to have Spicer Engineering estimate project, discussion, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.

Motion by Gauthier, support by Olk to pay all the bills, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.

Declared meeting adjourned at 9:25 p.m.
