July Village 2024 Minutes

July 10, 2024

Present:  Maksimchuk, Tate, Seamon, McCormic, Birchmeier, Ustishen, Mills, Gauthier, Olk

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance by Mayor Skip McCormic.  Motion by Olk, support by Ustishen, to accept the ministers, motion carried.  Motion by Ustishen, support by Seamon  to accept the Treasurer’s report, motion carried.

Public Comments, Tony Newman, County Drain Commissioner was present to discuss drain issues.  

Clerk will take care of going through Ordinances and getting them to web designer to put on our web page.

Police, DPW, Zoning and DDA Reports are on file.

Chief Bierlein announced our Department was awarded $60,000.00 grant through Mr. Kildee’s Office.  The grant is awarded to Police Departments for supplies, automobile, uniforms, etc.

School/Police Contract, Chief would like to continue with our agreement with school.  Motion by Olk, support by Birchmeier to accept the School/Police contract same as last year, discussion, roll call vote, 2 nays, Gauthier, Seamon, rest yeas, motion carried.

Long discussion in regards to chip and sealing of Main Street and repainting new lines.  Discussion included our personnel doing it versus hiring a company.  Tabled until next month.

Motion by Birchmeier, support by Mills to accept Ordinance #127 regarding stray and feral cats, motion carried.

Motion by Ustishen, support by Mills to have DDA get bids for crack sealing, and chip and seal and painting new lines on Main Street, discussion, Mills withdrew his support, and Ustishen withdrew her motion,

Subject is tabled until next month.

Motion by Olk, support by Gauthier to pay all the bills, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.
