July 2026 Village Minutes

July 8, 2026

Present:  Maksimchuk’s, Tate, Birchmeier, Gauthier, Olk,

Absent, Ustishen, Besaw

Meeting called to order by Mayor Pro-Tem, John Maksimchuk at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Alegiance.  Motion by Birchmeier, support by Olk to approve the May minutes, motion carried.  Motion by Olk, support by Birchmeier to accept the Treasurer’s report, motion carried.

Public Comments – Bill Swain asked if we can put what requires a Building Permit.  Clerk will check with Zoning Administrator.  Chuck Yaklin asked about a resident parking across the driveway.  Police Commissioner will get with Police Chief.  Kayla Gardner was present to ask about a Leash Law, has a problem with a neighbor letting their dog loose and leaving dog waste on her property.  Instructed to file complaint with Police department.  Don Wendling was present to ask about his drain in his yard, was informed the drain is his responsibility.  Glenna Raleigh asked what chemical our DPW.

Village Treasurer checked with getting quotes to replace furnace and air conditioner.  Motion by Birchmeier, support by Olk to accept Yaklin’s Heating and Cooling quote for up to $9,500 to replace furnace and air conditioner, discussion, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.

Police, DPW and Zoning Reports are on file.

DDA wants to purchase trash cans for Main Street , 6-8 trash cans and wants DPW to empty them, we have no where to dump them

Updates on Safe Routes to School, waiting on Consumers to relocate some poles.  Update on Water Main Project, waiting for approval to chlorinate.  Update on Saginaw Street Project, starting in August.

Council needs to consider to removal of top soil in alley behind fire hall alley and put down free milling from Saginaw Street project.  Consensus of council members was to have DPWQ remove the top soil.

Motion by Olk, support by Gauthier,to renew our SEPD membership at a cost for $1,000.00, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.

Motion by Olk, support by Gauthier to pay all the bills, roll call vote, all yeas, motion carried.
